New Domestic Violence Response Team Makes Numerous Arrests

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is one of three law enforcement agencies in Colorado to incorporate a Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team and Wednesday that team apprehended 10 people. Two of which were wanted in cases of family related violence. The other seven had allegedly violated sex offender registration laws.

Members of the team served a total of 65 warrants. The Third Annual Family Violence Apprehension Detail united the sheriff's department with agencies across the country. Of the three Colorado agencies that participated Mesa County had the most officers working during the 12 hour period and made the highest number of arrests.

Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Susan McBurney says on average the Mesa County Office receives 545 domestic violence related calls each year and has responded to more than 420 so far this year.
