Warrant Issued For Suspect Stabbed After Entering Victim's Home

Tuesday, Grand Junction police issued a warrant for 40-year-old Donald James Pagel the man suspected of breaking into a home that resulted in stabbing somone inside. Police believe a little after 1:00 a.m. last Friday Pagel broke into a home in the 1100 block of Rood Avenue with intent to burglarize. However, police say a visitor staying in the home heard a noise and went to investigate.

When he did he was met by Pagel and was stabbed in the abdomen,
but the victim fought back, striking Pagel several times in the head and face with a large flashlight causing severe injuries.

Pagel was in Saint Mary's Hospita Tuesday night, but once he is released he will be taken into custody.

He is being charged with attempted murder, 1st degree burglary and 1st degree assault.
