Three finalists from Mesa County have been named as finalists to replace retiring Judge Nicolas Massaro. The 21st Judicial District Nominating Commission has selected magistrate and former public defender Cynthia Cyphers, current County Court Judge Thomas Diester and Kenneth Singer, who is also a current public defender.
The candidates were selected and certified to Colorado's Governor Bill Ownens.
The governor has 15 days to appoint a new district court judge.
The annual salary for the position is about $110,000.
