A Mexico vacation is cut short for a Grand Junction couple who had to leave the area as Hurricane Wilma barreled towards Mexico, Friday. One day Bonnie and Bob Dum were snorkling and fishing, the next they were on a flight headed back to the Grand Valley to escape a category 4 storm. Their week long Cancun vacation turned into a scramble to get out of the path of Hurricane Wilma.
Friday, Bonnie and Bob Dum watched the news as the resort they were at just two days ago were hit with rain and winds. They received warnings from their family and friends back home and while the weather was still beautiful and sunny in cancun, they decided to cut their trip short and escape the path of the hurricane.
They made the decision on their own, however, because there was no indication from anyone in Mexico that they were in danger and they are now finding out that they left just in time.
Despite their close call in Cancun, Bonnie and Bob say that they love vacationing in Mexico and they will be returning again next year.
