Grand Junction police were forced to use a Taser gun on a suspect Monday after two men stole a car and eluded police. The stolen vehicle was reported to the Mesa County Sheriff's office. However, Grand Junction police caught up with the suspects dring a shoplifting incident at K–mart in Grand Junction.
Although the investigation is on–going, according to police officials one of the suspects was arrested without incident in the K–mart parking lot on North Avenue. However, the second suspect managed to flee the scene into a nearby neighborhood.
Police surrounded the man and had to Taze the suspect after an attempted assault on an officer.
The vehicle was recovered and although the stereo was pulled out and the ignition box was tampered with damage to the car was minimal.
Police add that the suspects, Steve Odom and Bob Mairel have a history of auto thefts and both are facing several charges including theft, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
