Bruce Attacks Salaries Paid To University Of Colorado Professors

Denver (AP) The chief author of the state's Taxpayer's Bill of Rights is criticizing the salaries of several University of Colorado professors, at least 1,800 of whom get larger paychecks than the governor and Douglas Bruce says that proves Referenda C and D are not needed.

The November first ballot measures ask voters to give up a
portion of their tax surplus refunds to fix the state budget, but Bruce says his numbers show there are already too many of what he calls, "pork-padded professors and bloated bureaucrats."

University Spokeswoman Michelle McKinney says Bruce's figures are misleading because they don't include federal funding or grants.

Bruce says he's not sure how much of the salaries come from
state funds because C.U. wouldn't give out those figures.
