Colorado Senators have mixed emotions on the President’s nomination of Judge Samuel Alito for Supreme Court Justice. Senator Wayne Allard says he is very pleased that the President quickly made another selection. And that he believes Judge Alito is well qualified and has a distinguished career in public service. On the other hand, Senator Ken Salazar is disappointed in the manner in which the President handled the nomination. Salazar says the Senate was never consulted about the nominee and says, “It remains to be seen whether Judge Alito will satisfactorily fill the mainstream position being vacated by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.” Salazar also says he won’t make a decision about how he will vote without carefully considering all the information. Senator Allard says he's expecting a fair and dignified confirmation process, ending in a timely up-or-down vote.
