2 Grand Valley Women Injured In Automobile Crash

2 women were hospitalized Monday following a traffic accident at a Grand Junction Intersection. A woman was driving eastbound on 23 Road when she stopped and then proceeded into the intersection at G Raod. A northbound tractor truck towing a flatbed trailer broadsided the car sending the Toyota spinning northwest into a ditch.

Rescuers cut the roof off the car to free the woman from the wreckage. She was transported to St Mary's Hospital with injuries described by a Grand Junction Police officer as substantial.

A 17-year-old passenger in the car received less serious injuries. The truck driver was shaken up, but otherwise uninjured.

Accidents at this intersection are common as there is heavy truck traffic in the area. The speed limit northbound on 23 Road changes from 35 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour at the intersection.
