A Fruitvale man hears he could face several life terms in prison as he is advised of the charges against him Tuesday in a Mesa County courtroom. Christopher Weiberg is accused of killing 28–year–old Thomas Joe Martinez on October 25th. A week–long manhunt resulted in his arrest at a trailer park on October 31st.
Weiberg faces one count of first degree murder, as well as felony murder after deliberation. He also faces three counts of robbery, as well one count of menacing, possession of a weapon and aggravated wounding.
Two of the counts are known as F–1 charges meaning Weiberg could face life in prison for each count if convicted. Three F–4 charges could result in parole.
Weiberg will make his next appearance in court on November 23rd for a preliminary hearing.
