Officials with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of an infant in Clifton. The infant died early Wednesday morning. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
According to Susan McBurney with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office a little before 2:00 a.m. the sheriffs office received a call about an infant that passed away. The victim was 5 months old.
The incident happened at the infant's home in the 400 block of Topaz Drive. The parents called 9-1-1 after finding the child not breathing. By the time sheriff deputies arrived the infant was dead.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office is performing an autopsy to determine if their was any foul play regarding the death. This case will remain under investigation until the toxicology reports are finished.
