St. Mary's Hospital Selects Local Contractor For Major Construction Project

St. Mary's Hospital Thursday selected a Grand Junction–based company to team up with a nationally–recognized builder to begin construction on the largest building project ever seen on the Western Slope. Local contractor F.C.I. Constructors will join McCarthy Building Companies in the building the Century Project.

It will expand St. Mary's Hospital by 80 per cent over its' current size. The Century Project includes construction of a new 12–story patient tower and the remodeling of much of the current building at a cost of $148 million.

Construction on the patient tower will begin in January of next year and take 24 months to finish. At that time remodeling of the existing building starts. Project managers expect a total time of about five years to completion.
