More than 40–thousand dollars, that's how much money was raised during the third annual Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra Gala. Gala Chairperson Karen Hildebrandt says the estimated total is thousands of dollars more than was raised last year. Saturday night's gala is the primary fundraiser for the symphony orchestra. Money was raised through ticket sales and a silent auction of more than 100 items donated by community members. The auction included artistic instruments and decorated Christmas trees. Final numbers of exactly how much was raised will not be released for some time, but organizers say it's already apparent the gala raised more money this year than in years past.
