Golden (AP) An Arvada women is sentenced to 30 years in prison, partly for holding parties filled with sex and alcohol for teenagers. Jefferson County District Attorney's Office Spokesman Carl Blesch says 41–year–old Silvia Johnson will be eligible for parole in about ten years.
Johnson admitted to inviting underage students to her home for sex, drugs and alcohol because she wanted to be thought of as a 'cool mom.' Blesch says the judge at the sentencing Monday commented that cool moms provide guidance, attention and love, not alcohol and sex.
Johnson tearfully said that she has learned her lesson and
understands she hurt people. Johnson pleaded guilty earlier this year to two misdemeanor counts of sexual assault and nine felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Blesch says she also was sentenced for additional charges of third–degree assault, violation of a restraining order and harassment in unrelated cases involving her husband and children.
She was to be sentenced on September 26th, but that hearing was postponed when Johnson and three children were hurt in a car crash. She faces additional charges in connection with the S.U.V. crash.
A 14–year–old girl was behind the wheel, and one of the other children inside was Johnson's son. Prosecutors say a restraining order barred her from having contact with him.
