Mesa County Commissioners OK New Teen Youth Council

Monday, Mesa County Commissioners approved the creation of a new teen leadership commission similar to one already in existence for the City of Grand Junction. The new group will have 12 to 15 members from 8th to 12th grade.

The teens will gather for at least five hours a month to discuss issues relevant to the youth of Mesa County, including population growth and making healthy choices in life.

Funding for the program is not yet set, but monies will be set aside for retreats, publications and other needs.

Contact Mesa County Public Relations Director Jessica Peterson for more information at 244–1640. If you are interested in becoming a member of the teen commission the deadline is November 28th.
