The Grand Junction Hazardous Materials Team was called to a report of suspicious substances at the scene of a Fruitvale murder last month. Tuesday morning the landlord evicted tenants from an apartment at a complex on Garfield Avenue. While inspecting the apartment the landlord noticed two containers holding liquids.
Mesa County Sheriff's deputies were unable to determine the contents of the containers. They requested the assistance of the Grand Junction Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team.
The chemicals appeared to be harmless cleaning solutions.
That apartment is where Christopher Weiberg allegedly shot Thomas Joe Martinez on October 25. The tenants of an adjacent apartment were evicted Monday.
