One person was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and another was taken to jail after an accident in Grand Junction Friday evening. Shortly before 6:00 p.m. the driver of a car heading south on 23rd Street ran into a truck at NorthAavenue.
Traffic was backed up in the eastbound lanes of North Avenue. The driver of the car left the scene on foot and was witnessed by an off-duty sheriff's deputy. The deputy caught up with the suspect and walked him back to the scene where a sobriety test indicated he was under the influence of alcohol.
There were two juvenile boys in the car, which means the driver not only face D.U.I., child endangerment charges, as well.
