Grand Valley Man Sententenced To 20 Years For Attempted Murder

A Grand Valley man will spend the next 20 years of his life in prison for attempting to kill two people in Fruitvale last December. 41-year-old Derek Michael Brock was sentenced Friday by Mesa County District Court Judge Amanda Bailey.

Brock was convicted in September of multiple felonies, including two counts of attempted second degree murder and two counts of menacing with a deadly weapon.

Brock shot Sheri Brewer while she was driving away from his home in the 600 block of Cottage Meadows Court last December. Her companion, Charles Brandon, was also in the vehicle when the shootings happened. He was not injured.
