An early evening crash involving a motorcycle shuts down 30 Road along I–70 Business Loop in Grand Junction and sends the rider to the hospital. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. in the southbound lane of 30 Road. According to police the 49–year–old Grand Junction man was riding in the southbound lane of 30 road when he sped up to make a lane change. He was forced to lay the bike down when traffic ahead of him began to slow down. The motorcycle did not hit any other vehicles. The rider who was not wearing a helmet was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with head injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. While looking into the cause of the accident, investigators shut down the southbound section of 30 Road for about 2 hours.
