Demoted State Patrolman Being Transferred to Denver Headquarters

The Colorado State Patrol announced that corporal John Oreolt will be transferred from Grand Junction to the agency's Denver headquarters. Oreolt was demoted from sergeant to corporal after allegedly propositioning a woman while on duty.

A statement released Monday by Colorado State Patrol Chief Colonel Mark Trostel stated, "I do not condone the behavior demonstrated in this instance. I empathize with the concern that is being expressed regarding the outcome of this issue and ask that citizens understand that all available information was used to make an informed and fair judgment".

Trostel also says it saddens him greatly when the actions of the few overshadow the dedicated and faithful services of the Colorado State Patrol.

Oreolt will be taking an administrative position at the Denver headquarters.
