Home Invasion, Robbery Lead To 5 Suspects Arrested

People inside a Grand Junction residence were assaulted during a home invasion robbery early Tuesday morning. A total of 5 people were arrested in connection with the robbery at a home in the 2100 block of north 26th Street just after midnight.

In custody Tuesday were Grand Junction residents Derrick Byrd, 36, Richard Byrd, 37. Also 27-year-old Robert Adams, 24 year- -old Dennis Green and Wilmer Stevens, 31, from Clifton.

The five home occupants, including three men and two women, tell authorities the five suspects forced their way inside the house and got into a disagreement over furniture. One of the occupants had a shotgun, which was wrestled away from him.

Police say he and the two other occupants were physically assaulted before the suspects left the residence. Their vehicle was spotted shortly after the incident at 2901 Patterson Road in Grand Junction.

All 5 men face a variety of charges including robbery, burglary, assault and menacing.
