2 Dangerous Men On Loose After Man Is Shot In Head In Desert

In the 11 o'clock hour Wednesday morning a Grand Junction man was found wandering in the desert with a gun shot to the head and authorities are searching for two men thought to be connected to the shooting. 20–year–old James Finnigan was found wandering on 25 Road in the desert by a man returning from a morning walk with his dog. Finnegan had been shot at least once in the head and may have walked as much as one–half mile before being found.

Fnnegan was driven by the man who found him to a location at the end of 25 Road. There he was met by rescue personnel.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office Finnegan willingly went to the desert Wednesday morning with Sam Lincoln and Charles Pruitt. The relationship between the victim and the two suspects is unknown. At St. Mary's Hospital Finnegan later told investigators Lincoln and Pruitt shot him.

Finnegan Remained at St. Mary's Hospital in critical condition with multiple gun shot wounds.

Lincoln and Pruitt reportedly left the area of the shooting in an older, brown two–door sedan. Law enforcement continues to look for the two men who are considered armed and dangerous.

Charles Pruitt is 5' 10" and 200 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo on his left arm saying "rest in peace brother".

Sam Lincoln is 5' 10" with blue eyes and brown hair. He has the word "Lincoln" tattooed on his back. Lincoln has $400,000 in outstanding warrants, including robbery, menacing and auto theft in Mesa County. He also has warrants for his arrest for attempted murder and robbery in Garfield County.

They are described as armed and dangerous. Officers say you should not approach the men if seen. Instead, you are urged to call 9–1–1 if you know the anything about the location of these two men.
