The husband of a local child care provider is in custody after being charged with sexually assaulting children. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office arrested the 58 year old man last night at his home in Grand Junction. Edward Morfin is accussed of assaulting five different children on a number of occassions. Four of the victims claim they were assualted at Morfins home when they were there for day care provided by his wife. One victim did not attend day care but was the daughter of a good friend of Morfins.
However, according to an arrest affidavit this is not the first time Morfin has been accussed of sexually assualting a child.
In 2000, a victim reported that she had been sexually assualted by Morfin. The case was not investigated. In May of 2001, Morfin was accussed of sexually assualting a child who attended daycare at his house. This case was investigated but not prosecuted. The victims in this current investigation claim Morfin sexually assaulted them numerous times. One victim says that between the ages of five and eight.
