Mesa County School District 51 officials are discussing possible schedule changes to the four high schools in the district for the 2006–2007 school year.
Currently there are three different types of schedules in district 51, the standard seven–period semester at Grand Junction High School, a four–period blocked quarter system in use at Central and Palisade High Schools and the five–period trimester at Fruita Monument High School.
Having a common schedule at all four schools would not only help students who transfer in, but would accelerate student's learning curves.
District 51 spokesperson Jeff Kirtland says that discussions are preliminary at this time and parents will be receiving more information on the matter before Christmas break begins.
