Boulder, Colo. (AP)- Two newspapers reported today that a study
by Harvard University found that about 71 percent of students attending the University of Colorado binge drink. Bill Marine, retired professor emeritus at the university, told the Rocky Mountain News that binge drinking is an epidemic at the
school. University officials told the Daily Camera that the reported number may be too high because too many members of fraternities and sororities were included, and they may drink more than the general student body. The numbers are likely to renew calls for action. Boulder city council member Crystal Gray said the city ``spends a huge amount of resources on this issue'' but the problem continues to increase. Student deaths at both CU and Colorado State University have energized the campaign. City leaders in both cities have examined whether there are too many bars.
