Two people are dead in separate accidents in Montrose over the last three days. Luis Alberto Aguirre-Sanchez was killed in a high-speed crash on Friday. He was a passenger in a car driven by Eric Souders,who lost control of his Camero. That car went through two trees and a cement-filled steel pipe before coming to rest in a church parking lot. Another passenger was ejected and flown to St. Mary's hospital in Grand Junction for treatment. Alcohol and speed are considered a factor in the crash.
Yesterday Joan Mason of Windsor,Colorado was killed when
Eric Sandelin of Montrose crashed his vehicle off Horsefly Road. That car was going more than 80 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour speed zone when it went off the road and vaulted a 30-foot canal before coming to a rest. Mason was reported dead at the scene. Sandelin is listed in serious condition at Montrose Memorial hospital.
