Woman Arrested On False Police Report

Following a weekend incident where a Grand Valley woman told police she was carjacked, kidnapped and robbed, the same woman was arrested Monday after police determine that the woman's story was unfounded.
Twenty-one-year-old Fruita resident Christina Swofford admitted to police that the incident which began on 28 road and cortland avenue and ended in an alley on 19th St. never happened and that the day before had conspired with an unidentified male to steal more than $500 from the Loco Food Store on Horizon Drive where she works. The woman also stated the theft was in order to buy methamphetamine, and that she concocted the story to cover up the theft.
Grand Junction Police say reporting a false incident not only misdirects manpower, it potentially endangers residents who really do need help.
