March and Rally Planned To Honor Civil Rights Leader

On Monday, Mesa County Residents will come together to celebrate the life and teachings of civil-rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Mesa State Americorps Project will be marching to Grand Junction City Hall, and those who wish to march are asked to come to one of four locations by noon.
Locations include the Mesa County Library Downtown Branch, R-5 High School, the State Building at 6th St. and Colorado Ave. and City Market at 1st St. and Rood Ave.
Participants will walk to City Hall for an event at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate the historic leader who was assassinated on April 3, 1968.
Monday would have been Dr. King's 77th birthday.
The City Hall celebration will feature public remarks from figures like Grand Junction Mayor Bruce Hill and former Denver Bronco Vance Johnson.
All residents are invited to attend.
Martin Luther King day is a Federal holiday, so while schools, post offices and county offices are closed, Grand Junction city offices will be open.
