Lawmakers on the Front Range are proposing a bill that would limit the amount of junk food in vending machines at schools. And while this measure is designed to help combat the bulge in young adults, School District 51 has another plan in mind.
The district is in the process of coming up with some new ideas when it comes to lunches in the schools. Director of Nutrition Services Dennis Barrett says he wants to make lunches not only more appetizing to students, but also tastier.
A new menu is already underway for the district, which will include items not seen before on the menu and will give students more choices.
Barrett also says he wants the schools to move away from the stainless steel display lines and toward a more self serve style cafeteria.
