A man is behind bars and facing vehicular homicide charges for a crash that killed a Naturita woman.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the accident happened at around 7:50 Saturday night on Forest Service Road 503 which is a gravel pit near the Cottonwood Campground on 25 Mesa Road.

Troopers say Robert Greenwood was driving a Ford Bronco up and down the gravel pit for fun when it rolled off the top. The passenger, Toni S. Carver, was partially ejected and the bronco landed on her.
She was not wearing a seat belt.

Officials believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash and booked Greenwood into the Montrose County Jail.

People on scene say Greenwood and the victim were engaged to be married.
