Crews from Delta, Montrose and Olathe have come together to fight a wildfire burning south of Delta today. The fire is located in the Dry Creek area near 1600 Road. Montrose county officials believe it may have started in a pile of trash that was burned on Sunday. High winds on Wednesday may have blown some bark over to Dry Creek and started the fire. The fire burned between 6 and 7 acres through a canyon with mainly trees and haystacks. Officials say that numerous homes were threatened. The fire is contained, but crews are expected to work through Wednesday night.
