A teenager from Mesa County is arrested for bringing a gun to school today. The Opportunity Center is a transition school for some District 51 students. Sheriff's deputies were given an anonymous tip this morning that a student going to the facility located at 11th and Colorado Avenue was bringing a gun to class. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered an unloaded gun and ammunition in his backpack. The investigation so far has not revealed any evidence to support that the student was going to use the gun to hurt anyone, but he has been charged with several different charges including a felony. In addition to these charges the 15 year old is also subject to a mandatory expulsion
of up to one year for bringing a weapon to school.
