The Grand Junction Police Department's Impact Team is now into its second month of service and have already racked up some impressive numbers.

The team hit the streets June first.

Police Officer and Impact Team member Steve Weihert, says, "We certainly get flagged down a lot more than we would if we were in a car."

Weihert is part of a five man Impact Team. Two officers work during the day while three patrol at night. The team's goal is to make everyone a little safer.

In just the first month, the team has posted some pretty good numbers.
The team has racked up 32 liquor, 15 disorderly conduct and 9 narcotic charges. Along with other offenses they have issued 116 total citations.

The Impact Team is not a permanent unit and will most likely be dissolved after August 4.

Weihert says if the team performs well they could be called back into duty next year.
