For the first time in 75 years, Colorado residents will be able to buy liquor, wine, and full strength beer on Sundays.

The Sunday liquor sales bill, which Governor Ritter signed into law back in April, officially took effect July 1.

Liquor store owners fought similar proposals in previous years, saying they liked having a day off and it wasn't cost effective for them to run their business another day. This year, they backed off and worked to defeat another proposal that would allow grocery stores to sell full strength beer and wine.

Colorado becomes the 35th state to allow liquor sales on Sundays.

Most liquor stores 11 New talked to said they would be open from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Only one store, Hilltop Liquors, said they would not be open because the owner wants to keep Sundays as his day off.
