A crane operator had a brush with death when he crashed his crane wire into some powerlines in Orchard Mesa.
Grand Valley Power says no one was injured, but power to 40 homes and eight businesses was knocked out for nearly an hour.
It happened on highway 50 near 28 1/2 Road just after noon on Tuesday.
Grand Valley Power officials say the accident melted a conductor which had to be replaced.
Officials say the United Crane Services crane operator was lifting a pipe when its weight shifted, sending the wench line into a high voltage powerline.
Grand Valley power is still interviewing witnesses on scene. It says depending on what it finds, the companies at fault may have to pay for repairs.
