Screening for breast cancer,
may be a little easier now at Community Hospital.
The hospital has installed a digital mammography system,
that gives radiologists another way to look for abnormalities in women's breasts. The images captured are put into a computer program
and can be manipulated to see through dense tissue,
which was much more difficult on film.
Another benefit to this new system,
the computer program points out abnormalities it sees,
so there is an automatic second opinion built right in.
This system is the first of its kind in Grand Junction.
