A fire engine is totalled after apparently trying to beat an on–coming train at a railroad crossing in Silt. Colorado State Patrol reports there were four occupents in the fire engine driven by 20–year–old Austin Coryell of Rifle. According to law enforcement, the freight train struck the vehicle causing it to slide down an enbankment then rolling on its side. No one was injured in the accident. It appears that all lights and bells at the crossing were functional. The volunteer firefighter was cited for careless driving.
