Student Performance Addressed At District 51 Meeting

Mesa County School District 51 officials meet with parents Monday night to discuss an innovative program that looks to improve student performance. The program, called the "Pathway to Peak Performance" is derived from District 51's strategic master plan and looks to focus on four key components. Establishing a monitoring system for pre–kindergarten through grade 12 students, identifying a student's needs early in their academic career, and once identified, having an aggressive intervention program, and finally instituting a system flexible enough to accommodate individual student's needs no matter what their level may be. The system will start being phased in at the beginning of next school year. Assistant Superintendent Steve Schultz says the program is also designed to be changed as time goes along.
