Brighton, Colo. (AP) A 17-year-old boy will face adult charges in the stabbing death of his friend's father during a sleepover in Westminster.

Andrew Michael Galek was charged Thursday with one count of first-degree murder in the July 13 slaying of 63-year-old Hans Winter.

A police report indicates the victim first called police to say his son's friend was in their yard with a small knife and was suicidal. The man's wife, Beverly, then got on the phone and said Galek had stabbed her husband.

Winter died at a hospital Sunday after surgery for his injuries.

Police say they found Galek hiding under a parked pickup truck a short distance from the victim's home about 15 minutes after the stabbing.

Galek is due back in court Aug. 1.

He's being held without bond.
