In honor of Cesar Chavez Day, more than 30 members of the Riverside Youth Council marched from Sherwood Park to Lincoln Park. Renowned labor leader Cesar Esterada Chavez was a migrant worker who frequently experienced racial prejudice because of his mexican american heritage. But he rose to become a gifted leader who registered more than 50–thousand chicano's to vote and helped stop police brutality of spanish–speaking people. Students with the Riverside Youth Council say it's important to honor and remember Chavez. Following the march participants enjoyed a free festival complete with food and games.
