Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba (AP) A former driver and alleged bodyguard for Osama Bin Laden is pleading not guilty to charges of conspiracy and supporting terrorism. If he's convicted he could land in jail for life.

His trial, which opened today, is the first Guantanamo war crimes trial.

Witnesses have been brought to the U.S. naval base in Cuba and a jury pool of American military officers has been assembled.

Military prosecutors are hoping the trial will showcase a tribunal system that has seen repeated legal setbacks.

The trial is expected to last three to four weeks.
