If you're waiting for those big, juicy, luscious Palisade peaches, you're going to have to wait some more.

Bruce Talbott with Talbott Farms says the peach season is running ten to twelve days late, because of the cool spring.

Talbott says the delay won't affect flavor, and will actually help the peaches grow larger than in season's past.

Talbott says the peach season will also run a little later into September.

Talbott says he'll start picking at his peaches near the last couple days in July to the first couple of days in August.

This story does a real disservice to the many fine growers who do indeed have ripe, juicy peaches available now. Channel 11, shame on you for allowing one grower to promote his own business at the expense of other hard-working farmers. This is not journalism, but comes off as a promotion for Talbott's operation. This is a disservice to the community as well as local agriculture. Why not interview some other farmers besides Talbott? If you do so, you'll find a different story. Grand Valley citizens, visit a local orchard and try their produce for yourself. Many growers have fine peaches to offer at this time. Come try them for yourself.
