Phelps Sets Gold Standard; U.S Women Gymnasts Get Silver

Beijing (AP) Michael Phelps won the 200 butterfly and took part in the victorious U.S. 800-meter freestyle relay team for his fourth and fifth gold medals of the Beijing games.

Phelps has a record 11 career Olympic gold medals. The previous career record for golds was nine held by Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis and two others.

China won its first Olympic gold medal in women's gymnastics. The U.S. finished more than two points behind and settled for silver. Defending champion Romania was third.
