Driver error causes a vehicle to crash through the window of a downtown Grand Junction bike shop Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened at 549 Main St., around 2:30 p.m. and according to the Grand Junction Police Department, the male driver who's in his 70s, was preparing to back out of a parking space in front of Brown Cycles.
The man put the vehicle into drive instead of reverse and hit the gas, with the car going over the curb, taking out a water main and plowing into the shop, missing a window shopper by inches.
The driver and his passenger were the only ones hurt in the crash and were taken to St. Mary's Hospital with minor injuries.
Main St. between 5th and 6th St.'s were closed for more than 30 minutes and the damages to Brown Cycles is estimated to be in the tens of thousands.
