Mesa County Public Defenders gathered Friday evening to remember one of their own who died earlier this week.
Twenty-seven year old Nicole Richardson, a Mesa County Deputy Public Defender, died Monday Evening. According to the Mesa County Coroner Dr. Rob Kutzman, Richardson died from a self–inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police say the shooting was accidental, however because alcohol was a contributing factor the coroner is evaluating the death as a suicide. There was one witness, but foul play is not suspected in the incident. The Grand Junction Police Department is still investigating the incident.
