Republicans Steve King and Dan Wilkenson will go on to run for the State Representative seat in District 54. Western slope republicans gathered at the Grand Junction city hall Saturday to hear nominations for the district 54 representative spot which makes up parts of Mesa and Delta counties. Current representative Josh Penry has his eye on the senate seat, leaving the district 54 position up for grabs. Three republican candidates were nominated, Tom Kenyon, Steve King, and Dan Wilkenson. Steve King walked away from the assembly with more than 50 percent of the vote. Dan Wilkenson trailed behind King with a little more than 30 percent and Tom Kenyon was not able to secure the 30 percent of the delegate vote required to be placed on the August primary ballot.
