Speaker of the Colorado House Andrew Romanoff makes a major announcement concerning a Grand Junction State Representative and the joint budget committee.
Representative Bernie Buescher of Grand Junction, who's currently on the joint budget committee, will be named the committee chairman on Monday, replacing Front Range Representative Tom Plant in the position.
The announcement came during the Mesa County Democratic Party's annual spring fling, which serves as the party's major fundraiser for the year.
Democratic candidates vying for local positions on the November ballot had the chance to speak to the crowd of several hundred and keynote speaker Romanoff says it's a perfect venue to honor the freshman representative.
Buescher is also vice–chair of the Colorado Appropriations Committee.
