The school year is winding down and after 41 years, one Mesa County District 51 school will close its doors permanently.
On Sunday afternoon, the staff, students and parents at Bookcliff Middle School gathered for a barbecue to celebrate and remember the school off of Orchard Avenue in Grand Junction.
Along with plenty of food, there was also a slide show with images of the campus and the students who have attended the school over the 41 years to show its rich history.
The new Bookcliff Middle School being built directly behind the current building is part of the district's $109M bond project.
