Grand Junction Police are warning consumers about some counterfeit ten dollar bills that have been passed around town.
Two business's on North Avenue received the fake ten dollar bills. They are believed to be passed by the same person because the serial number on both of the bills is the same.
The ten dollar bill was recently re-designed by the U.S. Treasury. If you think you have received a fake ten dollar bill:
You can hold the bill to a light to check for the watermark
Check the bill for an anti–counterfeiting strip
Feel the bill and compare it to a known real bill
Hold on to the bill and call 911
