DUI Suspect Tasered Three Times

The Grand Junction Police Department said an officer had to use a taser three times on a 20 year old man Thursday night.

The suspect, Cody Nystrom from Mesa, Arizona; hit a van near the North Avenue and 7th Street intersection. Nystrom, who was driving a white Subaru, allegedly fled the scene of the accident.

The officer was able to track down Nystrom from the vehicle description. According to authorities, the officer smelled alcohol on Nostrum's breath.

The officer had to deploy his taser three times because Nystrom would not follow the officer's orders. Nystrom was verbally and physically defiant. After the third time the taser was deployed, Nystrom cooperated with the police.
