After waiting in limbo for several hours at Saturday's Colorado Republican Assembly in Colorado Springs, Congressman Bob Beauprez came out on top as the Republican Gubernatorial Candidate for the August primary election.
Because of new voter verification rules, more than three thousand delegates at Saturday's assembly stood in line to vote. Prompting many to either become angry or leave all together. Candidate Marc Holtzman received just 27% of delegate votes. This after publicly expressing concerns that party leaders were trying to block his ability to get on the ballot. Beauprez got 72 percent of the votes and despite the wait, the congressman says it was worth it.
While Holtzman says he will petition to get onto the August primary ballot
Beauprez is asking Holtzman to concede, in order to unify the party.
